Iki, being the gorgeous, rural island it is, is well known for three commodities: rice, beef, and fish. People come from all over Japan to enjoy Iki sushi. Here you can see a half-dozen fishing boats, lights bright to attract squid and other denizens of the sea. The Japanese call this a “floating city.” To those folks who don’t realize what they’re looking at, the lights make it look like a city floating in the ocean.
In Yunamoto, one of my favorite vistas of Iki.
