2010 – Iki-shi, Nagasaki-ken, Japan, Earth

02-15 / “O” is for “Oranges”

Delicious and healthy.Mandarin oranges, to be exact.

One of the great things about Japan are the excellent fruits, even though they tend to be way more expensive than in the states.  On Iki, because they’re grown locally without pesticides or similar chemicals, the strawberries and mandarin oranges are especially delicious.  Right now it’s both mikan (coming to a close) and strawberry season, which is totally awesome.  So cheap!  So good!

In Japan, mandarin oranges are called みかん (mikan), and they’re plentiful and cheap.  I like them better than regular oranges because they’re sweeter and don’t have seeds.  However, naval oranges are pretty much the most delicious things ever made.
