Another part of Japanese culture is the concept of “omiyage,” or souvenirs. Whenever you travel somewhere (and especially when you take vacation days to do it), you’re supposed to buy your coworkers, and in some cases your friends, something to thank them for allowing you to go.
Tokyo’s famous omiyage flavor is the “Tokyo Banana.” Here, it’s pictured on top of my excellent MASH worksheet (to practice future tense). It was a fairly tasty chocolate cookie with banana-cream filling. My only problem with it is that the stamp on the top… well… it looks like a banana. And by that I mean the term “banana” when used as a euphemism.
I’m really immature.
