2010 – Iki-shi, Nagasaki-ken, Japan, Earth

A statue of watching of a man watching people play mah johng, as more play in the background. This reflects the remainder of my trip through China.  China denies any access to both facebook and wordpress, so I couldn’t update the blog.

Back in Beijing!  After five years away!  After the Olympic games!  And during the Shanghai expo!  It cannot be that different, thought I, and yes, the tourist attractions looked much the same–though with less construction.  But there was blue sky!  Fluffy clouds!  An adorable little park in the center of a large road where old people came to play Go and Mah Jiong (or however that’s spelled).  People don’t spit or pee in the road as much as in other cities of China.  And there’s an honest-to-God subway system!

Beijing!  How I missed you!  How I would love to go back and work amidst your 16 million-ish residents!  But only if I get paid enough to afford Peking Duck every day.  🙂
