Was pleased-as-punch to discover that the Nagasaki Harley-Davidson Festival was happening the weekend of mid-year conference. It’s such a trip. All this American stuff, tons of, er, large Americans, loud motorcycles (or not-so-loud two/three cylinders), and singers rocking “Ribin ra bida roca,” which might be one of the greatest things of all time. Also: fair food. Delish! But no frozen bananas. Uber sad face.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to enjoy as much this year as when I went two years ago. The other ALTs and I thought the festival would go into the night, so we went to the nearby Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum to check out the exhibit. (It was really interesting.) BUT! of course Japanese people can’t stay out past dusk, so the festival actually shut down around 6:30. 😦
