2010 – Iki-shi, Nagasaki-ken, Japan, Earth

Homemade Japanese food. This weekend, Ava and I made lots and lots of cookies at our Japanese Mom’s, Ozeki-san’s, house.  For some reason, even though that meant taking over her kitchen and living room for hours at a time, listening to crazy Christmas songs, and getting sugar everywhere, she still decided that she needed to give us some Japanese cabbage rolls and a cream stew.   Also the expensive apple.

The food was so good!  And after baking all day, it was great to not have to cook.  And next year, we’re going to teach each other how to cook different foods.  In January, Ozeki-san will teach us how to make sukiyaki (I think it’s easy), and then in February we’ll teach her how to make meatloaf.  Etc.

PS: Mom, I need your meatloaf recipe.
