2010 – Iki-shi, Nagasaki-ken, Japan, Earth

Great view, Kannon. After a sweet night hanging out with the other ALTs, TANK and I decided to go for a walk around Ishida (beach capital of Iki).  We saw a lot of rice fields, Shinto shrines, and then stumbled onto this gem: an adorable Buddhist temple in the middle of nowhere.  Though the statues of Kannon and Buddha looked pretty new-ish, as you can see above, it also had a really intricate wooden entrance that looked a great deal older.  That was interesting, but not as photogenic with my 50mm.  (Looking forward to getting my new wide angle.  Here we come, Paris!)

Overall, it was a great night and morning.  I’m so lucky.  😀
